Job Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Record Management
Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
Prepare and post journal entries and reconciliations, including month-end and year-end closing processes.
Monitor and manage accounts payable and receivable to ensure timely processing and cash flow management.
Inventory and Cost Accounting
Oversee inventory valuation and reconciliation processes in line with manufacturing operations.
Track and analyze production costs, including raw materials, labor, and overheads, to assist in pricing and profitability analysis.
Work closely with the production and procurement teams to ensure accurate recording of inventory movements and stock levels.
Tax Compliance and Reporting
Ensure compliance with all Kenyan tax regulations including VAT, PAYE, withholding taxes, and corporate taxes.
Prepare and file statutory tax returns and reports accurately and on time.
Liaise with tax authorities and external auditors during tax audits and reviews.
Financial Reporting and Analysis
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
Provide financial analysis and variance explanations to management to support business decisions.
Monitor budget adherence and report discrepancies or potential risks.
Audit and Controls
Coordinate and facilitate external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Implement audit recommendations and ensure strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Continuously improve accounting procedures and internal controls to enhance efficiency and compliance.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with manufacturing, procurement, and sales teams to ensure financial processes support operational requirements.
Provide financial insights and advice to department heads to improve cost efficiency and profitability.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA qualification is mandatory.
Minimum of 4–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within the manufacturing industry.
Strong understanding of Kenyan tax laws and regulatory requirements.
Proven experience in inventory and cost accounting is highly desirable.
Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
High integrity and strong attention to detail.
